The Puppeteers of America (POA) holds a
national festival every odd year, while each region
of the POA holds regional festivals every even
year. The Southeast Festivals have been held in Asheville, Savannah,
Atlanta, Orlando, Mobile, Charleston, Charlotte...all over
the Southeast. For the first time, this incredible event is being held
in beautiful Wilmington, NC!
The festival invites puppetry artists
and aficionados from our region and beyond to perform, workshop,
and break bread together with the local community. The festival in
Wilmington is offering performances at Cameron Art Museum, Kenan
Auditorium (UNCW), the Burney Center Ballroom (UNCW), and Downtown; a
barrel of workshops, including a Puppetry
in Education & Therapy workshop; a community parade;
and puppetry exhibits
around town. Some of these events are free and open to the public,
some are ticketed, and some are only for festival registrants.
To get the full festival experience,
take the plunge into puppetry by registering. Festival
registrants have access to additional performances, workshops, and
other puppetish fun. You can take a brief swim by registering for our
Friday Only option. Or dip your toes a la carte in the various
events open to the public...whatever you do, don't miss it!
